what Engine will fit??

just wondering but is it only the 1242cc punto 60 engine that will fit a cinq or will a 1.3 or even 1.4 fit from an s or sx punto?
also what about boring out the 1242 to 1300 would this make a difference?
and then what about throttle bodies can you not fit a 1.3 throttle body to the 1.2 lump?

i know that its a lot of questions but i was gearing myself up to a 1.2 conversion when peeps starting asking me if was worth it and should go even bigger. and those who agreed with the 1.2 conversion said that throttle bodies were where the power lies. im all a bit confuzled[?]

All depends how much you want to spend. 1242 8v swap can be done for about £300 all in, or you could go 1242 16v for an out-of-the-box 86bhp (improved with filters zorst chip etc.) or a Punto GT conversion if you don't mind spending twice the value of the car on the conversion.

Punto 60 has a 32mm throttle body as opposed to the 1108's 30.5mm. With the shaft ground down a little this gives a noticeable increase again, or a bodge can be done with a 38mm Punto 75 throttle body - search the forum for this one.

You can use either throttle body, but as with a few other things in life the bigger the better.
Chip isn't strictly necessary, but if you've spent time and effort changing the engine for more power, it's worth considering as in my experience it smooths out the power delivery and gives a noticeable gain.

chubbston are you having it professionally fitted as it is a massive job and we taking my car off the road for 2wk+ with 3 of us wrking on it every day and night to get it all installed and working correctly, on the search for the drive shafts, gearbox ECU and door locks with keys also the manifold, loom and full cooling system as it twice the size of the cinq/sei, Starting mine at the end of the year/start next year so we can research into it a lot and start to make the custom engine mounts and gearbox mounts. I wish you good luck with it and will ya take some pics as you are fitting it

:D

So how much would I be looking at to get a low mileage 1.2 16v Punto Sporting engine done proffesionally? :) Very tempted instead of a new car to get new engine, gearbox etc...

Matt

When i was originally going to do the 1.2 16v i was thinking of puttin about £1000 towards it but doing everything to the engine while it was out of the car but to be honest no idea how much to say as you ma just keep needing little bits and bobs as it goes in!!
