| Help Needed - Now desperate ??Pete ??!!! '97 Cinq Sporting After considerable problems with starting and cutting all that happens now when turned on is that it clicks a lot from the the relay by the ECU and the keycode light will not go out. (See history http://www.fiatforum.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=7981 ) Car went into the garage today. Mechanic says that he cannot even read the ECU if the Key code does not clear. He has tried with two diagnostic systems including the lastest bosch system. He thinks that the ECU might be f**ked. Any Ideas. Does anyone know if the steering lock housing does anything special Fiat call it "Key switch w/antitheft device" would it be worth changing this first If I have to change the ECU what else is needed? I presume lock barrels and the matching keys. My mechanic said that he thinks that the immobiliser unit behind the fuse/relay box goes with the ECU but was going to check this out. Anyone know what part this is I can't seem to find it on the Fiat parts system. Any help would be really appreciated Many thanks Michael My Fto Isn't Asmuch Trouble

| i am | i would take it to fiat(im assuming 'your' mechanic isnt),as if you do need a new ECU then they program it to your car with the red key,the only thing at the ignition barrel is the induction loop that senses the proper key is inserted and deactivates the immobliser http://www.enigma2000.co.uk/services.htm these guys may be an option for you,hope this helps;) The Fiat Cinquecento Fun While It Runs

| Relay shouldn't click a lot, check to see if it's all earthed properly at the bolt on the wing in front of it. Otherwise, the white box may be u/s. Pete. 1242cc cinq,turbo cinq,Cinqs&Seis Yahoo group,Clubcento

| Sounds like the earth from the battery has snapped somewhere. Usually at the engine. The white relay is a main systems relay that supplys lives for the fuel pump and the other snesors on the engine e.g lambda probe. ect. This should not click all the time just once when ingtion turned on.
