Lowering Sei Sporting 40mm

I want to lower my Sei Sporting (completely standard SPI) with 40mm uprated springs.
Im getting my local garage to fit them. Will this work ok on the standard wheels/tyres already on car? Do i need to know anything else? Would i need shorter shockers? I dont want to spend too much and just want a firmer, better ride.
Also, are the Springs on www.tuning.co.uk any good cause thats where i was gonna order from?
thanks
M

Re: Lowering Sei Sporting 40mm

As long as they fit the bump stops the dampers should survive, but you are not getting a matched suspension. The frequency of the new springs will be different.

The new springs will fit with the existing wheel/tyre combo.

Cheers

rubber thingies that cushion the suspension when at full travel. If that makes sense to you

the frequency?

also, i know the ride will be stiffer, but how much stiffer should i expect? Should i also expect rubbing, grinding using 40mm lower springs? I was gonna go for 60mm but quickly put off reading previous threads.

thanks

Not too much but time is expensive.. an hour maybe 2 labour at most i'd expect, so depending on location £50-£60 an hour

Re: Lowering Sei Sporting 40mm

will work just fine on standard alloys and with standard shocks. No rubbing at all mate. I have -40mm springs on and no catching and hold up fine on the shocks.

Only problem i found is the handbrake cable gets snagged at the back suspension, so need a metal cable really, or some type of protective sleeve. Make the car look 100% better though!!

Get a firm quote first. It's a pretty easy DIY job (see the guide) and the special tools you need will set you back less than £20.

Re: Lowering Sei Sporting 40mm

PMd you some pics mate. I did it on my driveway with no vice or table etc. Was my first go at something like that!

The hbrake cable got snagged when the suspension is fully compressed by the actually mount on the bottom. No big deal though, doesnt bottom out......that often
