More piscccht! (turbo owners, you might like this)

Been playing with the Turbo again today. Nothing new there.

Took the pipe from Turbo to throttle body off for something or other, noticed that the 1" bore tee for the dump valve was attached around a hole only 8mm in diameter on the main tube. Now seeing as though the pisccht noise (well technically, I suppose it sounds more like ptchaaa, but I'm not too good at phonetic spelling!)is dependant on how fast it releases the pressure, my old clockwork brain gradually realised things might sound a whole lot more boy racery if I filed this hole out to the full bore of the branch.

Solved a couple more niggly problems while I had things in bits and went for a drive.

Result - even at normal driving around the dump valve is about four times louder, so virtually every gearchange now produces a rather tasty sound!

Anyone want a stereo? don't think I'll ever use it again[8D]

Pete.

Yeah Pete,

Is there any chance of getting a pic of the part you is taking about?

I know the pipe you mean between the Turbo and the Throttle Body, but am unsure which part is the 8mm bore??

A pic would help clear this up.

Thanks

Brian

Righto, take the dump valve off and look down the hole. See how big the hole drilled in the main pipe is, mine was only 8mm.
If you file the hole out, make damn sure you take the pipe off first and get all the filings out before you refit it.

*takes note of this*

How's the 1242 turbo project coming along? Mine should be completed next Monday (Hopefully). Just waiting for Demon Tweeks to deliver my air filter. I should be able to get it on the rolling road too to see how much bhp it's pushing out.:)

I feel a 1242 turbo coming on...

Cool, do let us know.

My 1242 is all reshimmed, new oil seals everywhere, new sump, just waiting for time to fit in. Even found a place to dyno it for me.

Well I got the last few bits and bobs this afternoon for when I fit the turbo, then in typical Fiat style something broke. My central locking on the drivers door as packed in. *sigh*

I'm still going to turbo the ******* though! :D

Pete if ya planning on coming to to see Brickfoot, then you'll have to let me know when it will be as I only live along the road from him and would love to see ya 1108 Turbo.

Hope we can arrange a conveniant time for all three of us, probably at Brickfoots seeing as he will be off the road for a little while.

Let us know when it'll be, thats if U don't mind me tagging along.

Brian
