Strut Brace

Hey

Does a strut brace improve the handling of ur car? How easy are these to fit? I've seen one on ebay for a reasonable price http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2463431676&category=40 192 do they jus bolt on or is it more difficult than this? Also if one is fitted to the front does a rear one need to be fitted?

Cheers Mike

never found any for the rear of a cinq. I was wondering this also. They did them for the rear of the uno but then again maybe the suspention in the rear of a cinq is completly differnet and doesnt need one.

i wouldn't worry about a rear one for a front wheel drive car, they do help the handliing a bit but you want an anti roll bar and decent shock set up for handling but there easy to fit and look good.that guys been selling a few lately

A rear one makes the car handle completely differently, quite tail happy, which can be fun, in the right circumstances.

Cheers

I got that exact strut brace. Bit of a bitch to fit. spare a few hours! but worth it. Steering seems more responsive and not as much roll

To fit most front upper strut braces requires release of the things already bolted on to the strut tops, fitting of the brace, then some repositioning or remodelling of brackets to get all the other stuff back into place.

Cheers

Just fitted exactly the same brace to my Cinq. It took 20 mins! To fit it undo the 3 13mm nuts holding each strut, move the header tank out the way from the drivers side, and move the ecu out the way from the passenger side (dont forget to undo the akward 10mm nut on the lower part of the ecu mount), also slide the battery back as far as it will go. Fit it directly on top of the struts/body and bolt everything back on top. Its tight round the battery but the only part you need to modify will be the fuse cover on the ecu mounting. 2mins cutting with a hacksaw, nothing to worry about!:D

Cinquecento............Its not the size its how you use it!

Just a quick question. If you have to loosen/remove the strut bolts to fit the brace...
...does that mean you should get the camber set up again?

I can only speak for the cinq, but there's very little movement in them so I wouldn't have thought so.

The struts have fixed mounting points, so the camber cant be adjusted from standard. The only way to change the camber would be to either get offset top mounts or adjustable lower arms, either way its expensive & a waste of time.... At the end of the day its a Fiat not a Mclaren!

Cinquecento............Its not the size its how you use it!

Eh... No. I have offset top mounts on my silver one and they weren't much more spensive than standard ones.

cheers
