Another clutch bites the dust

what is wrong with my car, I'm on my third clutch in 12 months.

23/5/03 - snapped on way to crewe
2/10/03 - snapped on way to pub
1/3/04 - snapped on way to town

As you can see its within a space of 10 months, I dont think I have got a heavy foot. FIAT refuse to exchange the parts although it is under 12 month guarantee because they say it may be caused by a heavy clutch. This has been checked and they cant find a problem.

Any other suggestions to why its happening to me, I havent smashed any mirrors or walked under any ladders, so what could it be.

Thanks

Gaz

Im presume you mean that the clutch cable has snapped rather than the clutch failed. If that is the case I would suggest that the release bearing shaft has seized. Get that sorted before putting another cable on.

Cheers

For a clutch cable with an end that never breaks call RICAMBIO and speak to FRANCO...(For a Cinq - this may fit a Sie?) This fiat specialist had a clutch cable made up speacially for them with a different end section and as a result IT DOES NOT BREAK AT ALL!! I'm pretty sure that it comes with a garentee aswell(I'm not sure tho..) 01737 359824...
A very good investment methinks!
Cheers,
MATT

ps-tell him that you got his number from here and that i posted it up - thanks!

The part that snapped on mine was the metal bit at the end, in the footwell. How can this 'unbreakable' one actually be 'unbreakable?' I wouldn't have thought metal could snap like it has....
