Engine Carrying!

Might seem like a daft question, but..............

Do you think I could safely carry a Punto engine in the back of my cinq sporting?

Got myself a new engine but they won't deliver and cinq is only available option other than hiring a van.

Re: Engine Carrying!

As custard said, also think about putting blocks of wood down to spread the load, at least in the Sei, the boot carpet/surface isn't very stable!

Re: Engine Carrying!

I did indeedy . It was only the lower engine block and no gearbox but it fitted no problem at all, I mean a single person weights heavier and a cinq can take 5. I run a 30mm drop and hardly noticed a difference.

Unfortunately I didn't check to see the oil had been drained before I put it in the car which I had lined with my mum’s best duvet. Padded around it with some plastic sheeting, a couple of nylon cords and polystyrene but didn't stop oil seeping onto it . Still didn’t go on the car which is all I cared about but mother thought otherwise.

Re: Engine Carrying!

Ive had a 1108, 2 x 1242's and another much larger displacement unit in mine (plus gearbox and all ancilleries). The larger one fitted, although was a challenge to get in and out in one piece! - Punto engines will fit easily

Re: Engine Carrying!

I drove 180 miles with a Punto engine and 'box in the boot of mine with no problems - you need to put a sheet of ply or something to spread the load and you should try to secure it and make sure it can't come forward under heavy braking. I'm not very nice to my poor car - I was carrying concrete blocks in the boot of my cinq last weekend...
