I am chainging my clutch cable on my 2002 Sei, MPI, and its a right pain. I can't get to it easily inside, as the dash is in the way, and before i read about removing the seat, electronocs box and fiddling like a mad mad, I set about taking out the dash instead.

I have it prett much free but its seems stuck at the top, i removed the centre screw behind the rev counter. I also took aout the rev counter, spedo unit, center control unit, radio all lower screws, but the **** still won't free.

Am i missing any hidden screws??

Please help lol

Here's what I did when my clutch cable broke (MPI) .

Take the passenger seat out, disconnect the battery, remove ECU cover and ECU, then crawl about with pliers trying to get in.

Thinking on, I don't think I had my carpet in at the time as I was mid install of some car audio bits.

Took me f*%king hours to do mine, the worst bit was the trying to get the broken bit of the clutch cable out of the mechanism.

Cheers Paulfb. I ended up putting all the dash back together and doing it like you said, if only i had known before i started a 4 hour job would have taken 45mins max!

I didn't need to take th eseat out, just put it back and reclined it, then puled back the carpet after removing the side trim by the door.

I lay on my back on the seat, feet in thte air, and after removing the control box, uncrewed the cover, aand got the pin out in about 30 secs.

LLike I said, quite easy once you know how.

No need the take off the wheel arch liner or wheel either.

I will write a quide up for the mpi sometime this week i think, to save others the hassle of getting it wrong like me lolol.

Yes this job is a hateful job, obviously a lack of r+d going on at Fiat in the swap to RHD for Centos. THe clutch cables are one of the worst bits of design in the car.

When mine went, it took a couple of painfull hours and yes the worst bit was getting the old pin out of the end of the cable.

I seem to remember imagining I was a brain surgeon at one point it was such a fiddly job!

mentioned this in another topic, but you could disconnect the main pushrod from the drivers side (think its a 13mm nut) then If I remember correctly you can take the whole lot out of the car, and sort it that way, only annoying thing then is reconnecting the cable
