Is it just me or is the Cinq becoming rarer and rarer?

The Old Cinq contingent seems to be gradually disapering, even Custard is leaving the fold :(

Also there seems to be an alarming number of cars that seem to being wrecked, nicked or being broken for spares (but can I find an Abarth front bumper and side skirts in Broom yellow No! )

Plus no one seems to be doing mental things to their Cinqs at the minute

Come on Guys whats going on? start looking after these little things.

and will someone please start doing at least a V6 conversion :slayer: even I'm thinking of doing a turbo conversion for gods sake just for the hell of it

they do seem rare

theres only 2 for sale near me within a reasonable price, and that is when im looking now, and when i was looking last time :chin:

im spreding them about tho :p just sold one of them yesterday, so thats one more on the road, and not gathering dust :D

and tomorrow i might be liberating one from being towed behind a camperva (y)

In a few more years, I bet the mint examples will start to pick up in value.

I'm a Metro nut at heart and a mint Metro Turbo will fetch £2000 all day long, I nearly bought one but couldn't bring myself to using such a good example as a daily driver.

Hopefully people will start to restore them, would be a shame to see them vanish.

once i get my head round how the megasquirt ECU works, i'll be MPI - got the plate being made up so i can fit the MPI manifold to my SPI head, then just need to save up some more pennies and my turbo conversion will be back on.

cinqs will be about for a good time yet.. they are good for young drivers as they are cheap as chips in good condition and they are cheap on the insurance. perfect for a first time driver..

the reason the owners seem to always leave is because they grow up! cinqs are really only a first time car.. people want more power or more luxery, and lets face it, a cinq has neither unless you turbo it :p a cinq will never be luxery :p

You might have something here young drivers thats the reason they are disapearing stop crashing them

Why grow up? i've been there had the exotic and comfortable stuff but I've come to the cinq in my late 30's because it's fun and that is someting that is missing on too many cars these days reminds me of driving mini's but without the bad back I always have a stupid grin on my face when i'm driving it.

As lots of people will agree power isn't everything if you can't use it and lets face it you can have more fun in a Cinq at licence keeping speeds than you can in most other more powerful cars

a number of EOL Cinqu's are starting to appear in scrapies a lot around here :( I think they're getting old and starting to need expensive stuff doing to them... and in that they're a fave of young drivers so will have a highish write off rate.

I have a Sei and am going for my second but I've got fast luxury the Seis are more toys than anything else.. I can seriously see me keeping a Sei for as long as I can keep one going easily as it will be my second car.

See a few a day at least around here, so i don't see them as too rare. But i guess thier popularity and numbers are dwindling....a guy i know has just got rid of his as well :( after it was rotten and brakes failed on him....don't think he looked after it much though really.

I'd love to get another cinq, had one a car b4 my sei, and loved it :) R197 POB , dunno where its at now though :( Lovely metallic bluey.

get a turbo cinq then ;)

You see loads of them far from rare and are still a relatively new car. I've always like the cinq especially after seeing some cinq racing on TV years ago.

I'm surprised how rare the Metro has become. They sold bucket loads and in the 80s you saw shed loads, now you hardly ever see one the Turbo must be super rare by now. I suppose most have rusted away, had an MG back in 95 and it was a weekly task to try and keep the rust at bay.

there are a couple round here near me an old man drives one in ilkeston (looks like its in mint condition) and there is one on a street near me but its in a sorry state. they are good to learn in etc but most of my mates would never get one because they all want corsas with engines bigger than a 0.9 or a 1.1
