Re: temp warning light on

How old is the car, is it SPI or MPI???

If its SPI, it could be a faulty warning sender. Does the fan kick in, does the coolant boil? If either of those are present along with the light, DONT DRIVE IT TILL ITS SORTED.

If its MPI, the warning light appears to be triggered by the ECU coolant senser, which, if faulty, would mess up a lot of other engine functions I'd pressume, like overfueling perhaps. Therefore if its MPI, then there is probably some mechanical problem.... ie. airlock, faulty thermostat, faulty radiator. (these could also apply to the SPI)

A few more detials may help

Re: temp warning light on

Not stating the obvious here but check your oil and coolant levels. You say it isnt loosing any water, has it got any? It may be overheating

As mentioned above, problem mentioned is a bit vague
