Anyone know the main engine coolant pipe internal diameter?

I need to order an adapter to fit my temperature sender. I am going to fit it in the main engine coolant outlet. However I need the car on the road till i do it so i need to know what the internal diameter of the tubing is?? I pressume its the same on a cinq or Sei.

The very rough external circumference of the tube is 11cm, which gives a diamater of approximatly 35mm.

however you can buy these in 30mm, 32mm, 34mm, 36mm. I therefore need it quiet accurate, and with my rough measurments and not knowing the wall thinkness, I can't just guess.

If you think a different size sender somewhere else would be better, just let me know

Cheers for ya help

Kristian

I used a clamp size 29mm-41mm but can't remember the internal diameter although I think its 32mm, but best get that confirmed.

One and only bumpty bump

No body else got any idea??

If not i'll get the 32mm, and pray, lube or silicone seal if it's the wrong size

Cheers,

Exclamation Re: Anyone know the main engine coolant pipe internal diameter?

1st time I've seen this particular thread, so just in case people don't spot Kritip's comments elsewhere (See his Guide for example:
http://www.fiatforum.com/cinquecento...e-fitment.html )

I now own his old made up pipe with 32mm RAID adaptor for the sender - it fits in the pipe but as He did warn me, it looks like 30 would be far less of a squeeze into the pipe!!!

On a positive note, I'd guess it should mean less restrictive flow?

Oh, as is mentioned elsewhere make sure if the gauge has an earth lead that it is linked to one on your T-piece adapter & that you fit a cable leading to an earth (handy unpainted screw) on the chassis - THE DIAGRAMS THAT CAME WITH MY GAUGE WERE HORRIBLE!!!

Re: Anyone know the main engine coolant pipe internal diameter?

Yeah, it was a squeeze, but the ID of the adapter is probably the same size as the ID of the tubing, so no restriction. It lasted a long time, and no leaks or tears, and the tube has now taken on the form of the adapter

My gauge diagrams were a nightmare also, and I have a degree in electronics lol

I never earthed the adapter at all. just ran two wires from it to the gauge, and and earth from the gauge to the chasis.

How long till you fit it then? this weekend?

Kristian

Maybe, if I get chance - have done the gauge install into my central heater vent, I'm just not looking forward to the moment I cut into the rev counter leads!!! Point of no return in the wiring stakes!!!

I've gone for Coolant Temp' & Voltage 'cos I wanted to be able to monitor the temp' especially as the car gets older & figured while I was at it I may as well make it up for 2.

oil temp, oil pressure, egt, afr, vacuum.

(cinq already has water temp )

i'll turbo it one day, once(if) i ever get it running as an n/a. fitting the turbo to this engine will be a pretty easy upgrade as the ECU will have no issues dealing with boost, and i already have 4 injectors.
