| cinq turbo owners... After deciding to keep my car and not sell it, I'm going to go ahead and fit the turbo I bought for it (I think). The thing is, I keep hearing different stories about the engine. Some people say the turbo will go on no problem, and others say it will blow it to bits unless I get the pistons skimmed to lower the compression. I've got an intercooler for it, and I've been told fitting the turbo without the intercooler will be safe enough. So what I'm asking is, all the cinq turbo owners out there, have you done anything to the engine like piston skimming etc. or did you just wack the turbo on? I feel a 1242 turbo coming on...

| Oh yeah, I'm running a punto 1242 engine if that makes any difference? I feel a 1242 turbo coming on...

| i am | if its the van akin(spelling!) kit then it does go straight on the standard engine with low pressure ,where did you get the kit from? Custard boy the man who loves the man from Creative

| If you drop the boost to 0.3 bar you won't need to skim the pistons. At 0.6 or so (which is what yours is set to) you will. If you have the intercooler, I'd fit that anyway as it'll reduce the heat of the air going into the engine and reduce the chance of detonation or melting. Also, cooler air helps make more bhp as it's more dense - it contains more oxygen. High boost pressure on an unmodified cento engine is a recipe for meltdown. | IMO fitting the intercooler will be vital to get the most out of the Cinq at a relatively low bar. If the air supplied to the turbo is warm/hot, you wont be getting the full potential. You've spent a few squid getting this far, so fit the damn intercooler! :D Another day...another problem...

| Have the wastegate pressure setting adjusted - needs to be done on a rolling road by someone who knows their stuff, also they have to have a boost gauge attached. It'll need rolling roading anyway to set up the fuelling. Pete. 1242cc cinq, turbo cinq,Cinqs&Seis Yahoo group,Clubcento
