Engine swap

Just want to clarify this, been looking throught threads about doing a 1242cc engine swap and was just wanted to know if im correct in thinking that the 1242 8v fits straight in the cinq, but the 16v needs some slight adjustment as well as the alternator repostioning.

Re: Engine swap

1242 8v into cinq is a straight swap with only an exhaust spacer required.
16V is the one that needs the wiring change and some clearance issues adjusted.

Cheers

Re: Engine swap

Been covered a tonne of times before, 8v SPI is straight forward and the 16v is a nightmare!

8v MPI is also trickier than the SPI, generally the harder the swap the more power gains though.

Re: Engine swap

The16v conversion is not as hard as people think, once the wiring looms ecu is sorted, which with an uncoded ecu is not too bad.

I would go for mpi 8v as a compromise- much more tuning potential than spi, spi has just had more development at the mo being the older engine setup on the cinqs/seis. There is so much more to be obtained from the mpi engines.
