creaking clutch cable

ok my clutch cable has been creaking for a while, as far as we can tell its where the cables attached to the metal arm at the clutch side.

so was just wondering is it safe to put some grease on it? im guessing i would have to take it all apart to get the grease in properly.

Re: creaking clutch cable

not saying that its the reason but my cable was creaky for a bit before the cable snapped.

Re: creaking clutch cable

it snapped a few months back and has been creaking ever since the new one was fitted, i just think it needs a bit of grease which they never put on

Re: creaking clutch cable

I've recently replaced my clutch cable, and new new one has been creaking like yours. I don't know what's causing it.

Re: creaking clutch cable

Sounds like the pressure plate on the clutch is on the way out, cinq clutches should be fairly light

Re: creaking clutch cable

Try some aerosol grease or spray chain lube (motorbike shop) spraying "up" the cable sheath while someone works the pedal up and down.

It may or not fix the creak, but is handy for gearshift and brake cables, too.
