I need a crank sensor

Mobile mechanic came out to look at red cinq today, pulled everything about and found out it isn't the ecu as diagnosed by the recovery man. Apparently the pulley near the timing belt was loose, the metal on metal sound I heard was a lump of metal caught up that had spun around and sheared off the top of the crank sensor. The sensor will need to be smashed out and replaced with another.

Relief in one way cos it was hinted at that it might be the head gasket, but that has been eliminated now.

Re: I need a crank sensor

Not ideal but could the wire be bodged neatly if such a thing exists with the duff sensor and donor sensor?

Re: I need a crank sensor

Thanks guys.

Knew you'd have some parts hanging around Dave. Would a Sei one be the same?

Rang my sister to see if she still had the 899cc one, but it went with the rest of the engine.

Can the crank sensor be replaced easily as a DIY job - bearing in mind it will need to be broken out?

PS. Dave you were right about Fronteras!!!!!

Re: I need a crank sensor

very easy.1 bolt at the sensor and a plug at t'other end.if the one dave has,has a shorter cable then extend its length with cables with male/female spades as a temp fix

Re: I need a crank sensor

sei one should fit he wont want a lot for it, dont smash the old one out you may brake the mount, just cut a bit off so its flush with the mount, remove bolt and it will cone out easy

Great - might have a go myself then.

Could you let me know how much your mate wants for the sensor Dave?

Thanks

Re: I need a crank sensor

The 899cc TDC sensors are totally different to the ones on the FIRE powered models
