Engine swap

[?]I have a 2001 seicento sporting with the MPI engine. I want to fit the 1242 engine from a punto, do I use the 8valve MPI engine from a mark 2 punto or the SPI engine from a mark 1 punto ?
Also I have seen a good article before on the site about fitting the 1242 engine. Anyone Know where it is ?
Any advice gratefully received

pete aka fixtagaintomorrow is your man for the swap as he has done the cinq 1108 to 1248 and is about to do it again on his 1108 turbo,as for which engine the cinq's use a spi engine as it means using the old ecu so i would assume that you would use the mpi but thats just a guess i would wait till someone gives a definitive amswer just remember if its an spi you need the ecu etc

Hi,

with an SPI it would be simple ... just change the engine and leave the ECU etc as it was but with an MPI engine? Is the head the same? Will the ECU adapt ....

Sure he will stay with the MPI.
But Does he have to get an MPI Punto engine or an SPI engine (maybe the cylinder heads are different).
I guess the easiest would be just to change the engine block (w/o head)......
