Hi All,

Was on my way home tonight when I got the annoying snap and clutch pedal hit the floor, great I thought bloody cable, drifting to a halt I then noticed my engine wasn't on, ignition lights lit up, tried the keys, turning over and not firing?

So pulled over and got my Fiat screwdriver and removed the inspection plate from the clutch connection under the dash, cable intact (puzzling) then thought it was the white plastic triangle, it was fine hmmm annoyed.

Went to check the engine issue underbonnet, found nothing out of the ordinary then thought I could be out of fuel since my guage is slightly dodgy after removing my fuel tank.

Checked in the drivers footwell and found a linkage had snapped that tensions the clutch pedal and the bar that crosses the car to passenger side had dropped and hit the emergency fuel cut off! Hence dead engine.

Got my GF to bring a spanner to remove the plastic cover for that and drove home the 15miles in 4th the whole way!:slayer: Done further before though.

Anyway the whole point of the thread is there is no sign of this on the EPR, I have searched the full thing to the best of my ability.

Whos got a Cinq breaking?

All fixed now!

A huge thank you to Rally, the fix was fairly easy, just a little tight for space on one nut but got it.

I forgot to tell my pops about the Corsa, oooppss!

engine off, car in first, turn key chug forward and get going, find rev range to shift clutchless, get to 4th then stay at 45mph all the way home, take corners kinda out of control and then stall it to stop!

Since my clutch cable has snapped 3 times, I was unphased by the task, done 45 miles before through towns etc.

Normal gear changing revs, as Liam says, about 2500. Release the throttle slightly to take the load off the gears, but not so much as to have the gears slowing the car, then take the car out of the gear you are in. Assuming you are going up the box, let the revs drop to about the right amount for the speed you are going, and slip it into the next gear.

Don't bang the lever about, its all about feeling the syncros mesh. Remember its not the gears you are moving, they are in constant mesh, its their hubs that you move. Do not force the lever either, if it won't go, try another gear. Forcing it will damage something.

Going down the gears, you need to increase the revs before selecting the next gear.

Its all about knowing what revs for what speed in each gear, but you will know what your own car sounds like so can be guesssed at fairly accurately.

Cheers

done that also through dundee every fecking light went to red

Pardon me, but who is actually changing gears "normally" at 2500 revs? :D
Apart from those with knackered clutches... I know it's economical and all, but that's not what you have centos for, is it?

Cheers,
