Rebuild-A-Cinq Project

Hi,

Thought I would post on here for some advice regarding a project I am considering. I have a crash-damaged 98R cinq sporting sitting on my drive and it's going to cost at least £1500 to fix it - so that isn't an option. So here's what I'm thinking about....

I can get my hands on a K-reg Cinq SX for very little money (possibly free). The car is in good condition, although it needs a set of shocks on the back. I'm wondering about the possibility of transplanting the running gear from the sporting into the SX. Engine, gearbox, weheels, shocks, fuel tank - everything.

I know it's gonna be a bit of work, but I really can't bear to see what was a brilliant sporting get torn apart for spares and ending up with only a couple of hundred quid in my pocket, and a bare body shell on my drive! And anyway, I want something to do with my time at the weekends, so it'll be a nice project and keep me out of my local.

So, anyone tried this before or know of any obvious problems I might have?

Thanks,
Tony

Ok, Been there, done it. I fitted the remains of a rolled 1996 Sporting into a 93 base model shell. All goes in dead easy, no hassles at all, everything fits in as it should in the Sporting. It really is that easy. You do need to change everything including the wiring loom, but it all fits no problem.

Have fun

Cheers

David
