Race - Cinq Sporting, Swift 1.0, 206 1.1

Who would win? The swift is a 1 litre 3 cyl. The Pug is a 206 1.1L. Were going to arrange a race to see who's the fastest. All are standard except the 206 has a K&N and the Swift has an EcoTek (which I know doesnt improve performance). I reckon I could have his 206 in all gears piece of piss but the Swift is quite nippy and he reckons (which I think is impossible) it can do 120mph.

The race would be a bit of striaght line dragging and a bit of the twisty black stuff.

I think i could clean up. The wager is £10 a man.

Matt

The Pug is fat and slow, the Swift is far from swift and the Cinq will kick ass. :)

I had a pug 206 and they are as slow as feck.......the 1.1 is pitifully slow.....U WILL BEAT THIS CAR IN A RACE!

As for the Swift...it cant make more than 50bhp (I think), u should have em both in the bag! Good Lad!

But if u r going to race.......not with people around :), I know we all know this but sometimes s**t happens! We dont want fatalaties on our hands!

Were planning on doing it about 4am on some quiet roads. Im going to go balls out just to beat them if its unsafe, I'll just wait until we get to a bypass and blow them both away.

I think the lad with the Swift has backed out! So its just me and the Pug....ha! :D

Just be careful, it's not worth getting hurt or wrecking your car over.

I love the sound of a Cinq beating a 206, but I have to agree that it's not worth the risk of injury or damage to your car, more importantly yourself, and even more important - anyone else!!:(

I drive very quickly when I get the chance (less & less these days due to speed cameras, caravans etc....)and love the feeling of speed (don't we all!!);)

Without sounding too patronising, may I make a suggestion which could allow the race to go ahead, but on MUCH safer terms!:)

If racing 'head to head' (i.e. at the same time) you are going to be concentrating as much (if not MORE) on getting past/keeping ahead/beating the 206 as you will be concentrating on the road ahead.

This makes for dangerous driving and means you are not fully focused on driving 100% even though you are probably driving much faster than you would if you were 'normally' driving fast (if that makes sense??) because you will be concerned with the other car....

My suggestion would be to take it in turns over the same route.
This way:

* You both still get to drive on the same stretch of road.
* You can both fully concenrate on YOUR own drive without the distraction of what the other driver is doing.
* There's less risk of crashing because no one willbe trying to overtake the other.
* There is no argument that 'you wouldn't let me past' or 'you cut me up'.
* You might well do it quicker because you level of focus will be that much greater.

How you time it is up to you (maybe even sit in each others car as you do it, so you both know it's done fairly??)

Most of all BE SAFE!......but have fun!!:D

You'll beat the Pug EASY!!!

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for ya!;)

Bruce.

I meant to say "Im NOT going balls out...." That makes more sense.

Im not stupid, I will whup him, I might even let him beat me just so that I can say "OK fair do's, you beat me, let me have another crack at it" He'll be dead confident and I can kick his French ass!!!!

I may take that into account about timing it etc...

Matt

Let some air out of the tyres, give you better grip around the corners ;)

Be slower on the straights though...

Another day...another problem...

Why not find a completely empty bit of dual cariageway, should be easy at 4am. Have a bash side by side 0 - 80mph, you'll trash the swift (trust me, really - these things are SLOOOOOW) and the pug won't be much competition, it's too heavy.

Don't be daft, don't do it in a 30 limit, take no risks. I occasionally rise to the bait with other drivers but a quick blat up to the speed limit to show them the error of their ways, then let them past is all that is needed most times. Point proven.

Pete.
