would painting the alternator pulley prevent the car from starting?

ive painted mine and just fitted the engine in again, but it wont start.

ht lead are on right way around, the flat bit of the alternator pulley is lined up with the tdc, at the top part is lined up with the back of the engine.

THeres a little pip that aligns with the 2mm dia hole on the crank pulley. If the pulley isnt aligned with the pip, it wont fire in the right order and so wont start!

just been and had a look and i can see the little hole :D

but dont think its lines up with the hole on the sprocket :(

so if i line the two little holes up with the sprocket timed, will this mean the flat piece of the crank pully will automatically be facing the tdc?

thanks for the info guys (y)

pin? never noticed any pin when taking it off.

will ivestigate poperly 2 moz probably.

had this kind of problem last time and was just told to make sure the flat bit faces the tdc and it worked :D guss not this time tho :bang: suppose its better to do it properly this time tho seen as im keeping it in :)
