well on a Cinq theres at least 80mm IIRC.

I dont think the engine sits much different on the Sei...if at all.

for width.. just take the standard air box off and measure the width of the hole..

for height, take off the standard airbox and measure the bolts that hold it on.

Re: distance between bonnet and tb on a 1242

ahh never thought of measuring the bolts

will go do that later.

do you reckon it would improve performance much if you make the bob a bit bigger in height and width?

Yeah it will. The volume of an induction system will affect its performance, and if youre going for a design with a ram pipe, the dimensions of the pipe and the plenum chamber will have an effect.

Google 'Helmholtz resonator' for an example!

Re: distance between bonnet and tb on a 1242

mine is bigger and has a bigger intake than the standard fiat bob but i doubt it flows as well as the fiat bob.

I cant really compare it for performance as i first put it on with huge wheels and now ive got 13s on which has obviously increased the performance but i cant say what is down the the wheels or the intake. It does accellerate very very well now though.

Re: distance between bonnet and tb on a 1242

quick question before i measure up my bits.

am i right in thinking sometimes bigger is not better? as in terms for a bob

or would anything with a larger inlet be beneficial to the car?

i tried to read that site posted earlier but made no sense (dont help studying for uni finals and cramming stuff in)

Re: distance between bonnet and tb on a 1242

I think larger is better but there will be a limit where any larger and it starts to make things worse etc.

I dont know the limit though

Re: distance between bonnet and tb on a 1242

well the 1242 is 15mm taller than the 1108 (hence the 15mm exhaust spacer...)

so 15mm less than you have now...

Re: distance between bonnet and tb on a 1242

so does any one know if too much air will harm the car or decrease performance?
