Can someone point me at a previous post on here (or tell me how) that shows how to remove the Instrument panel (the Speedo) so i can change the bulb behind the speedo dial.

Its a 99 Seicento.

Thanks

( I have been looking but cannot find any threads):bang:

You wont find many threads because there hasnt been many attempts to do this.

Good luck though, the unit is all one piece, so if you smash the plastic youre stuffed!

Its possible though as the units do crop up on ebay from time to time, but ive never known anyone in my time on the forum actually get access to the workings of the instrument cluster

i started a previous thread about this before you and as apple said nobody could help, so all i did was fiddle around the back of the cluster and theres a little rubber cover that conceals a screw so take that off and give it a wiggle and work out where the next point of resistance is and see if you can get around it (this is where i got scared and went crying to mummy!) but good luck and if you can take a few photos on your phone so i know what im doing next time. cheers

peice of ****.........

theres a screw at the top of the pod you can see it from in the window screen right near theback near the dash undo that, then take the 4 screws from below the ignition casing.....

rove the bottom ignition case, then look underneath at both sides and there will be a screw either side (near the rubber flappy bits of the stalks) undo them and remove the top part of the ignition casing, you will then see 2 allenkey style bolts holding the pod in place undo these and the what you need to do is d/c the speedo cable from the back of the pod, and alsothe 3 othe wire connectors

thats the pod off.

then you need to undo the casing which is held by a few screws then it gives you access to the bulbs at the back of the speedo pod.

they are push and twist style bulbs, but the tiny bulbs pull out of their black push and twist bases, they are about 99p for 2 bulbs from halfords or motorwold/parkers

i would post pics if i had some, but i cant be assed to take my speedo pod casing off again as its sprayed up colourcoded and dont want to damage it.

cheers mate thanks alot, any thoughts on a sticky in the styling section yet? good explination i think or hang on, wait for the pics first(y)

Just a thought

Some 99 seis will have elecronical driven speedos, whilst others will be cable driven.

This will effect layout obviously, but will it effect the removal process, will it be a bit harder to do?

yeh thats correct, mine is electrical (sideways fuel measure) and yet all arbarths from that reg that i have seen have cable driven mechanical dails (virtical fuel measure) i dont know why but thats what ive seen.

yo gazzaman can you tell me what type and size if possible of l.e.ds you used to replace them? cheers

Thanks gazzman for the guide , had my spare dash for 4 years to sort out the fuel gauge needle being loose and spunround to the other side ,, but the millage is with the clocks not the car ecu so i sripped my cluster and fixed the fuel needle and put in all back , simples now! Ta ..no speedo cable just o connectors ..

Thanks for this topic. I managed to open the dash and change the lights with led. It was a piece of cake when you know how to. (y) you can just use the T5 LEDs from eBay or whatever. The fit in the little black holders
