I recently bought a W-reg (2000) 50k miler seicento sporting. When I road tested the car the gearbox crunched in every gear. The dealer adjusted the clutch and this has rectified the fault even though the first bit a travel off the clutch pedal is stiff. I'm curious to know when a clutch needs to be changed on the sportings? looking at the previous MOT's the car has lived on the motorway. Also, When should the timing belt be changed?

40k on the belt and clutch depends on usage/power...

I would say the heavy clutch could be down to the Clutch cable these have a habit of snapping quite often..

Might be worth the 15quid for a new one see if that helps...

Or it could be the shaft seizing in the casing. Whatever, a stiff clutch is a problem clutch so get it changed and check the shaft and cable at the same time.
