Nearly finished a little project of mine.
Once had my 6x9's in my parcel shelf but alongside my sub they sounded awful. Came up with this idea, check the pics

Not too hard to do either, just need to either spray or carpet and fit speaker grills. Am i the first or has anybody beaten me there???

I have just carpeted over mine this weekend. I used to have a pair of 10cm co-axials in there but removed them and covered the holes with card board .

Makes it look a lot less plasticky and cheap IMHO.

Syphon, Have you used MDF and screwed the MDF in place? Are they screw covers?

I think 2 way speakers would sound better, you dont really want bass rattling the glass... incidentally, can you send some details on the template? Sizes, thickness and also the screwholes. They drilled or they fit in the existing screwholes from the old panel? What speaker depth can you fit? Cheers.

You wont need a template. Just pop the panel out and lay it some MDF and draw round it. Mark where you need the holes for the screws.

I think the screws will be held in place with some wall plugs (thats What I'd use). Am I right?

rip off the old cover
cut it out of 6mm mdf
drill hole into end of the white plug socket end in the bodywork.
put in wall plugs
screw into place
use from screw covers, and paint em up to match colour

tada, perfect.

He's right u know. And yes they do sound great, better than when they were in the parcel shelf!!
Also it does take some time working out where to put the speaker holes coz the fuel pipe is in the way on the drivers side

i was in halfrauds the other day and i saw some speakers that were smaller than 6x9s i cant remember i was only in for oil but i think thry were like JBL 4x8s or something like that,at the time i thought they would be could for siteing there(obviously not at there prices)
sorry im so vague just an idea

if i do mine, i think i'll stick 6x9's in, but eventually i think smaller mids would link the bass from a sub (in the boot) to components in the front.

those jbls are 4x6's, not worth the cash, better sound from 10cm's than from them
