YES! That's right! My beloved (bah!) Cinq has died!

On the way to the garage last night to have the thing looked at, as by this time it was sounding like a tractor.... started to pull away and with a tiny, mouse-like squeek, all life fled from the metal veins of my poor (b*st*rd) baby. Hopefully nothing serious but it wont start! [xx(]

Wow lots of words of sympathy lol! :D

Turns out the alternator belt was too tight causing the bearings to break. Doh! Shoudl be fixed soon! No funeral required.

you still not got ur punto yet?

the descent into insanity continues unabated

Some of us are just months away (well, march, when i'm 19) from owning a spanking new Corsa '03 spec SRi 1.8 :) Can't afford the £1500 leather interior extra, but the 125bhp and 0-60 of 8.0 secs should ease the pain of cloth seats (and £3200 insurance) :D

i'd rather spend some cash on my cinq make it look the dogs and save up for a while and get something half decent than get a corsa! dont get me wrong tho corsa's are pretty good cars but who in their right mind would pay £3200 for insurance????? even if you do get it free for a year or two through some sort of deal eventually your going to have to pay for it. speaking from experience get a smart looking car with an ok sized engine rather than a corsa with a big engine? plus, the vauxhall 1.8i hasnt got as much grunt as the 1.8i that they used to fit 10 years ago into the astra gte/sri,those cars would kill your corsa even taking into account the weight difference! happy motoring tho!:D

WHEN THIS BABY HIT'S 88...YOUR GONNA SEE SOME SERIOUS s**t!

Its setting me back £11700! Large wad of cash for a deposit and then finance the rest, they only offered £650 for the cinq based on a milage of 70,000 by March/April. Its at 68000 now so it should be ok. Am i the only one in this forum that thinks 0-60 of 8 secs completly unmodified is good!? Agreed the 1.8i of yesteryear kills the 1.8i today, but on comparing to a 2.2i Astra SRi '02 spec, it does 0-60 in 8 secs also. My Cinq has gone from bad to worse in the last month, and looks set to get even worse, with a certain MOT failure in January. I refuse to spend money on it unless absolutely nessecary. All money is saving for the new motor.

Same here! Mine's been nothing but a pain in the ass since i bought the thing; if it wasn't for the fact that i had always one and can now say i've had one, i'd regret buying it!

i must have got a lucky one? my wee cinq hasn't gave me any bother at all! today i've ordered a timing belt, tensioner, oil filter etc. and i'm going to give the little beastie a good service! apart from a small hole in the exhaust and a worn bush that had to be replaced my cinq has been pretty much trouble free! hope that doesn't change now that i've posted this!

Like most young Cinq owners, i had visions of a 1242 set-up with nice alloys, lowered and a decient sound system, but i have to say, it would be money wasted in my case. I just want speed and sounds.Unless anyone wants to take it off my hands for a few weeks, and give it back as a 1242 beast with new suspension, exhaust and a few other bits :D
