Would I be able to fit 14" rims on my Cinq Sporting that's lowered by 40mm? Would I need spacers for a such setup?
I've been looking at 14" Punto GT rims in particular...

Yeah you can fit 14" lowered depending on tyre size but on the other hand pgt wheels need spacing to clear the trackrod end and rear trailing arms

Okay, but would I need spacing when fitting other wheels, say Sparco Compomotive?

as said all depends on spacing a tyre size, i ran seicento 14" wheels on my cinq ages ago with iirc 10mm spacers front and 3/5mm spacers on the rear, with a 70mm drop front and 50mm drop rear i didnt have any rubbing issues, my rear arches where rolled

the tyre size i used was 175 50 14

What spacers you need are all really down to offset of the wheel your planning to fit my comp m05s are 14x6 et20 with a 195/45/14 tyre and a 30mm drop without rubbing issues
