Hello everyone,

I ordered a "new" heater motor for my 899cc cinq '94. The current one has a grinding bearings and doesn't work anymore (fuse 15A keeps melting upon activating the switch position to 1,2 or 3).

I already found the access to the blower by removing the shroud/cover under the hood, but I was wondering if I have to follow a particular order when replacing the motor. Or if there are any known problems I may encounter.

Ok, you've found one half of the equation. You will need to remove the whole heater box to get at the electrical connection which is cunningly concealed under the unit.

After releasing all the bolts in the engine compartment you will need to go inside the car and remove the dash cowl and release the screws either side of the heater control slides to allow the unit to be withdrawn from the engine side.

Removing the TB will help give clearance too.

Cheers

That's not what I want to hear! Well truth hurts...

Hmm the smaller the car the more work you have on replacing parts. The dashboard has to come off anyway because of the speed indicator problem I have as well.

But what is a TB you mention? Is it a terminal block?

Well somebody once said "I did it my way.."and so di I.

I replaced the blower motor without removing the complete heating unit. I wouldn't do this to a new car but in this case it works just fine.

1) First remove the shroud that is inbetween the blowermotor housingand the air inlet underneath the window (3 screws only).
2) Then I carefully broke away the screwmounts (plastic) of the cover that goes over the blower motor. (Who did design this!!! the screws are accessed from the bottom, very NOT logical  )
3) Now unscrew all other visible screws and you can remove the blower housing.
4) Replace blower and reinstall again with the retained screws from the previous step.
5) You won't be able to use the broken screwmounts, but this is really not necessary, since when the shroud is put back into place it fixates the cover giving it no space to move!

And then there was airflow again in the car (y)
