Hi Folks

Having a bit of fun with the mischief machine.

It has started to "bog down" when I try to accelerate. (loss of power - that sort of returns when the foot is off the accelerator....also tick over is lovely and smooth)

I have already replaced the crank sensor recently and also no "injector light" is coming on.

THis meant I suspected the MAP sensor so I got one from fleabay and now the problem is even worse !!!

I will check over the next couple of days if my fitting skills have deserted me but in the meantime does anyone have any ideas ?

Fitted new Map sensor and pipe to throttle body.

Checked Vacuum take of to brakes

No change still behaves like it has a choke (nice tickover - "bogs down" when throttle is pressed quickly)

Unplugged MAP sensor same symptoms - only difference is the engine (injector light) comes on.

Any ideas ?

MAY or MAY NOT be related,

but sounds similar as to how my wifes started, now, hopefully solved!! We had a build up of crap in the bottom half of the fuel filter, having replaced this seems to have solved our issue touch wood and fingers corssed etc! may be worth even having a look?
cheers
Tom

hmmmm hopefully you will get to the bottom of it!! I have soent nesr on £500 on sensors and what not until the last thibg (fuel filter) lol

I have done the MAp sensor and Fuel filter.

Still has lovely tick over and drives well until hot.

Then I still get some "flatspots" and lag that I did not get before.

There maybe a slight blow at the exhaust manifold - could this or LAMDA be the problem :bang:

I did the same new lamba and its sorted mine out

Update - been busy with other things

Fitted new LAMDA sensor - no change

Car still gutless cold (feels like it is overfueling and firing on 3 cylinders) until it warms up then it gets smoother (still not quite 100%).

The tickover is 100% ALL the time though - even when cold.

It is only when I press the throttle it "bogs down" . As I lift off it goes back to normal briefly (then the power drops because I am no longer pressing the throttle). Sometimes if I am really gentle with the throttle I can get a smooth power delivery.

Also it is much smoother higher up the rev range.

Any ideas ??

wow this is ongoing isnt it..

i think from memory you have changed map sensor and fuel filter.. I suggest you whip the throttle body off and give it a damn good clean, particularly the idle control valve.

After that I'd say just check the timing real quickly, i assume access is really good for this in the mischief machine... will idle fine one or 2 teeth out, under load is a different kettle of fish though.

So after that i'd be diggin into the ignition system, check all the plugs cause this could just be breaking down ceramic on one plug even. Check leads visually and then again in dark looking for blue sparks etc. Tbh if you dont find any issues i'd be inclined to change the leads anyway as they as so cheap. You can clean and regap the plugs if they appear fine.

Then I'd start thinking about replacing the actual coils.

Keep us posted buddy ;)
