Hi everyone, well I just passed my test yesterday, (had the cinq for a few months before hand)
When I got it, I changed the front brake disc's, pads, coolant hoses, coolant, oil and filter, air filter, oil breather (pipe that goes from rocker cover to air box) and a new battery.
It went to the garage and had a new handbrake cable, slave cylinders, new centre exhaust....

Anyway its always been a bit stuttery at low revs (as in ideling) you burp the throttle and as the revs die it felt as if it would stall before it picked up again

My local mechanic said it could be the injector, give it a good clean and try that

A few weeks later I did , (it was almost black inside, got I cleaned up and made a new gasket, fitted it and left for a bit due to other commitments, went back to it a week or so later and now it barely idles, you turn the key start it and it will rev a little (as in choke) then die unless you lightly burp the throttle, if you put your foot down it just dies....
I got it insured today and went a mile down the road, (it was f**king terrifyingly!!!!) Kangaroo comes to mind, you try to accelerate after you let the clutch out and it tries to die, lift the throttle lightly and it sort of picks up...then tries to die...

I'll also add I'm not a mechanic, I can do little bits, been riding big bikes for the last 8 years, so picked a few things up along the way....
I don't want yo spend any more on it, if it come to that, there's a small scrappy a couple of miles away, I might get £80....

Hi Beefy,
Where in country are you ?
A helpful member may be nearby.
The part in your picture is the whole throttle body , the injector is part of it.

Congratulations on passing your test.

Hi, I'm in the north west, Cumbria, Kendal to be exact
Yeah I removed and cleaned the whole throttle body, at the time I thought you could remove the injector, I'm pretty sure you can't (I tried ;) )

Here's a quick bid, not sure if it will play...., engine was still a bit warm (I'd just removed the fuel hose off the throttle body and turned the engine over, its definitely pumping fuel through.....

And thank you :) its about time the other half has epilepsy and can't go on the back of the bike, hence the car and test.... Bloody women eh.... ;)

Don't give up just yet you have done a lot , they are fun cars.

Have you thought of changing the coil pack/packs ( not sure how many a cinque has)

I have had the same kind of problem on Botha Stilo and an old Micra.

Regards
Piglet

I am sorry would love to help but you are wearing socks with sandals!

Video is very helpful.
It sounds like there is an air leak somewhere , check that out first.

Sorry about socks and sandals joke.

Hahaha I can't argue with that!! My monster slippers are in the wash so sandals it is ;) I'm sure I have a white strap top somewhere with some very short shorts to complete the look..... ;)

Its been bad since I cleaned the throttle body/ injector (I made a makeshift gasket the 1st time, today I made a proper gasket from gasket material (for the throttle body) I did notice their is a seal underneath the steel plate that the gasket goes on too, is that an o-ring or an actual seel? It seemed level and that it might not seel much....

Piglet119 - is their anyway of testing the coil packs? I don't really want to throw money at it, I've spent about 900 in total so far (including buying the car)....

If the seal between the throttle body and inlet manifold isn't 100% it will have terrible problems because the ECU won't be able to work out what the heck is going on.
Get that right first see how it is , if it is not right move on to the next thing.
Have you connected all the pipes and wires to correct points on throttle body?
I recommend you don't take anything else apart until you have correctly installed throttle body. Don't worry the injector does come out separately if need be.

Right boys and girls, I am a thickly... But .... She's FIXED haha I'm a bit special
Just been out in the rain and re traced my steps with the throttle body, turns out there's an idle control thingy in there with a little diaphragm? I had but the little Colet under the spring, not on top....
Just been down the road and back , I'm so happy :) she sways like a boat but I just don't care

Thankyou for putting up with me, and attempting to help, I really appreciate it!!!!

Well flipping heck , well done you .
If it's the cover on top marked Webber held on with 4screws it's a fuel pressure thingy and very important. The idle control thingy is different.
The last 899 problem on here was a faulty fuel pressure thingy.
Well done remembering which way round it was meant to be some time after taking it apart- proves you are not a thicky.

.... HELP
Try disconnecting the electrical connector on your MAP, to see if that makes any difference.

My 94 Cinq was the same.. kangaroo petrol, erratic idling, jerking and stuttering at speed, cutting out but restarting immediately..

I disconnected the MAP and took it for a drive. It wasn't perfect, but it was nowhere near as bad as it had been .. so I changed the MAP, which cured the problem. To find the MAP .. follow a vacuum tube towards the ECU, near the inner passenger wing.

It's maybe worth cleaning the stepper motor (an air idle valve). As you look at the throttle body from the front of the car, the stepper motor is sort of 'down and left' .. held on by 2 screws. Remove and clean it (but don't try and turn it by hand..).

Jachwhoo- yeah it was the weber thingy with 4 screws, Instead of losing it I went back to what I did knowing that it did run a bit better before I fiddled with it, a simple thing like putting the washer/collet whatever on the bottom instead of on the top of the spring could cause all those issues....

Thanks glen2602, I did actually try the map sensor thing (I saw you posted it on another thread) It just didn't run at all after I unplugged it.....
