Hi guys.
I haven't needed your assistance for some time as the car has ran like a peach.
But i have a problem.
Last night while tootling around taking my mam shopping i lost power.
I could coax the accelerator back to life and the car would lurch forward and the revs would die again.
When i got home i had a quick look under the bonnet for anything obvious wrong but no all looked good.
So i drooped off the positive connector from the battery and left it off 30 mins or so.
Reconnected and plugged my cheap scanner in to read the codes, but no codes were stored?.
Took it out for a bit of a blast and all seemed well. it idles ok but does splutter a bit with the first tap on the gas.
Anyway drove to work and back today and the engine light came on.
Good i thought, i can pull some codes now.
But when plugged in it doesn't even recognise the engine light is on.
Its had a new ECU in its life, could that be the issue or am i missing something, fuse blown etc ?.
Thanks.

Just had a poke about, seeing if there was any change to revs etc, no change sits at a steady 900 ish, no hunting or chugging
Checked the coils by disconnecting the front bank and then the rear, both times the car ran worse when off, so i guess ignition is ok.
Thoughts turn to head gasket
Oil is a nice light brown.
Coolant is at the max and holding pressure, although theres some slight traces of water evaporation at the cap.
There is some steam coming out of the exhaust, but not a lot, its colder today and the engine has been run earlier
Annnnnd the engine light has gone out.
Might chuck some injector cleaner into the tank and give it a blast.
