Technical 1.2 8v MPI swap questions

Fuel pressure was low (1.2 bar), but doesn't start with new pump either.

Took injectors off and all of them seem to be working.
Spark is ok.

Fuel pressure should be 3 bar if I remember rightly
Where did you get new pump from? Did you specify it was for mpi system (3bar ) not single point(1bar)

It was 1.2 bar with old pump.

Got a new pump which should be 3 bar. Just measured it and it was 6+ bar.
My fuel pressure gauge must be broken, 6+ bar doesn't make much sense.

1.2bar is what the stock spi fuel pressure reg holds the pressure at the pump itself will provide more pressure, not sure what the actual top figure is but you wouldn't normally need to swap the pump for a p75 swap. I do not know what pressure the regulator on the P75 fuel rail regulates to though. Do you know the history of this donor engine? Was it a running engine before you did the swap??

Try taking the vacuum line off the fuel pressure reg and priming hte fuel system a few times and check no fuel comes out the vac line, they can detoriate internally then let fuel past the diaphragm inside. If it doesn't leak I think you can rule fuel pressure out as the problem tbh, we know the system primes so there is fuel pumping round, you say spark is fine so that really leaves a wiring issue with injectors..

Keep going buddy and keep us posted.

Thanks for the input!

Have been busy with work, but had some time to tinker with it today.

Turned out to be caused by timing belt slip (lower pulley off by 90 degrees).
It did start after readjusting, but it slipped again.

Now waiting for new belt, tensioner and water pump.

Hopefully will get it running later this week.:slayer:

Ordered bunch of stuff for car.
40mm ST lowering springs, suspension arms, track rods and rear poly bushes.
Haven't found suitable shocks yet that don't cost an arm and a leg.
E: Never mind, found KYB Excel G all around for 120€ (106£)

There is 2 different timing belts for the P75 engine so make sure you have the right one, shape of the teeth is different between belts so if you have the engine with the smaller teeth and belt with wider teeth for example it won't seat right on the pulleys and slip pretty easily. Also one is 108 teeth and the other 129 teeth.

the 108 tooth belt is upto engine number 9042882 and the 129 tooth belt is from 9042883 onwards ;)

Thanks, 108 was correct.

It runs finally after 4 months!
Fuel pump was dodgy, cam belt slipped and one of the coil packs was broken.

What a fun car do drive!:worship:
