Sorry your wrong.

How does the pump get the power to run the pump? It gets it from the ignition. But to complete the circuit, the ignition circuit must have a crank signal. No crank signal, no relay powered up.

Btw, iam a retired diagnostic engineer.(y)

And i'm a qualified a mechanic but here's a little video to prove a point

So it's not taking a signal from a PCM/coil on a Cinq. But now with no crank sensor, it won't start.
At the relay, he could use a jump cable to see if the pump runs.

Wrong the pump primes when the ignition is to raise fuel pressure to the rail/injectors and obviously give a solid fuel flow the only time a bad crack sensor will stop any type of fuel is at the injectors obviously if the engine ecu can't see any rpm it's not going to open the injectors or trigger the coil packs

OWNED :devil::devil::D:D

Ps.. Sorry not sorry....
Pps.. i have no constructive comment regarding this subject ??

Not owned actually.
On the Cinq, it's not using a PCM. It's getting the power from the ECU, to click the relay to prime.
But and here's the but, without a crank signal, the ECU will power down the main relay, and car will not start. So relay works, but then doesn't. Hope that explains.

I am not sure who is correct (about the ECU vs fuel pump prime issue) but my personal vote is that the crank sensor is a flakey bastard and may be (for whatever reason) the cause.

I have had starting issues in the past and I have nearly always found it to be the culprit.

When it gets dirty and or wet (both plug and sensor end) my car throws random wobblies and sometimes refuses to start until I clean it up.

It has happened twice now - and I have replaced the sensor once.

I will say it could be possible mine won't start when the battery voltage drops below a certain point it will crank over fine just won't start put in on the charger for 10minutes and it will fire no problem

I had a brand new battery on it and it went flat. Cause I left the stereo on so i changed it for one that I had charged up then the car wouldn't start cause the fuel pump wouldn't prime and I left the car with the old battery on it then the battery went flat after two days so I'm hoping it was that

Nope wasn't that now the indicators have stopped working tho so even better ?

If the relay is not priming at all, must be either wiring issue to relay, or relay itself. Find the input side of the relay, and check you have power. I guess the ECU wire is broken, or ECU plug not fully in. The relay should click, then run for a few seconds. Pity you ain't got a spare relay.
Had this issue on a Rover 416. 416 ECU is under the passenger foot well. Plug was hanging out. Once pushed in, it was perfect again.
Another way is to run voltage direct to the pump. See if car then starts.

These lights are constantly on when I turn the key I'm sure they are supposed to turn off

Fixed it! But it was weird I changed the indicator fuse and the headlight fuse then indicators started to work so I turned the key and now it started ?

Now that's taken care of all I need to do is change the front wiper motor and the rear light case and should be sorted for the mot
