On a side note, sometimes removing the Bumpers can be a bigger job than actually doing the welding. Loads and loads of proper penetrating spray, not just WD40, spray it on all the nuts and bolts over the course of 3 or 4 days.Got the compression tester out, for any other morons who come across this when searching.....
...cut down the rubber hose as close as you can to the stuck fitting whilst leaving a centimetre or so(I used a pen knife), then get a screw driver with a width slightly more than the inner hose diameter. Hammer it down into the hose until the tip reaches the inner fitting. The pressure of the screwdriver pushes the rubber hose outwards with grips the fitting and allows you to unscrew the comp tester!
I noticed last night how easy the rust is to get to if you were to remove the rear bumper....hmmm.
Does it boil over or over heat?Just fitted a battery and started it up, looks more like the HG is gone, horrible misfire now and thick white smoke out of the exhaust.
I'll run it up to temp but sat at idle for 10 minutes the fan never came on and when I turned the engine off the coolant bottle whistled like a kettle.Does it boil over or over heat?
This time of year a fair bit of white smoke/steam could normal because of the outside temp.
That doesn't sound too good mate.I'll run it up to temp but sat at idle for 10 minutes the fan never came on and when I turned the engine off the coolant bottle whistled like a kettle.
Cost wise I'd definitely be better off breaking it but I can't have it sat around in parts taking up space. If I'm selling the whole car I'm probably better off doing the head gasket myself and selling it as a runner? That doesn't sound too good mate.
With the other bits then you need to think what your going to do with it.
Sell it as is spares of repair?
Or, and I don't like to say it, break it for parts. By the sounds of it you'll need to chuck a fair bit of cash at it to get all the bits sorted. Shame really
How much do Schumachers sell for over there then? The Schumachers over here in Ireland are near non existent, only seen 1 in person 3 years ago, if I was you I'd do my best to save the car
Especially the way schuey is ?
Well done. Keep us posted with updates, pics and any questions. Love a ShueyWell you'll all be happy to know I decided to keep the Schumacher and keep it as a project. I'm half way through the head gasket at the moment.
