Hi all
What gearboxes are you guys using on 16vs? Running the standard 1.1 box on mine and feel it's holding the car back a little, what other options are out there other than the punto sporting 6 speed? I'd ideally like to stay with a 5 speed :)

previous 16v cars i had i used sporting 5 speed, probs best for 1.2s, i know if you want more leg or length a seicento mpi 1,1 box (wet shaft) will give you bit more.

6 speed boxes reduce steering lock but gain more accerlation and top end is about same really,id say stay 5 speed, maybe try mpi box but may lose the fun factor

The seicento sporting abarth gearbox prefacelift:

1108cc Sporting Abarth(pre-facelift)
1 3.909
2 2.158
3 1.345
4 0.974
5 0.766
R 3.818
FD 4.071

Or if u want longer FD u use the suite boxes:
1108cc
1 3.909
2 2.050
3 1.344
4 0.977
5 0.837
R 3.727
FD 3.562

1108cc
1 3.909
2 2.158
3 1.345
4 0.974
5 0.766
R 3.818
FD 3.562

I would look into some thing a bit newer and lower mileage like the GP Punto and new shape Panda.
I have an 1.1 Panda box on my 1.2 8v which has a longer first gear than a Seicento Sporting box.

I run the Abarth Seicento box on my car which was 1.2 16v and it's great. Still running 13" wheels with a 175/50 tyre as well. Not great for top end but acceleration is (y)

Car now a 1.4 16v and still using that box just haven't driven it

Hello,
I have the same config, 1.4 16V + gearbox of 1.2 16v sporting mk1 (5 gears) and for me it's the best choice due to a correct acceleration and correct agreament on race track.
With a shorter gearbox, I could imagine to change a lot and a lot, without any gain.
