Does anyone have a rear arm polybush to hand, who could perhaps do me a favour and measure the overall length of the little beast?
I picked some up from a local factor today, and they appear to be about 3mm too long (compared to the new "standard"metal sleeved one I have here) :bang: I don't want to start work on the job tomorrow to find out they won't fit and the factor won't take them back as they're "used"!

What are you measuring? Need to compare to the length of the sleeve in the middle of the metalastic oe bush

:) How long were the replacements?

I presumed, maybe wrongly, that the steel tube should be the same length as the silicone or eventually, once they worn a bit, they'll start moving from side to side?

Or does the flange fit snugly so that, with the two flanges, the space is taken up?

Once fitted, did they make a creaking noise?

I didn't actually measure them with any accuracy, just a quick check with a tape measure that gave me around 69mm. Takes a bit of effort to push the newly bushed rear arms back into place, they're quite a tight fit.
Once fitted and nuts and bolts tightened with the car back on its wheels it's like a new car to drive. Not noticed any creaking at all.

Did you apply much / a lot of grease? How much and where?

I read a few threads last week where people said theirs did creak.

You much have done your right :)

It seems different manufacturers have differing ideas when it comes to lubrication of polybushes - some supply silicone grease, some supply copper grease and some don't supply or recommend the use of grease at all. If you're fitting polybushes, best to do what the manufacturer of yours says in the instructions. I'm very happy with mine, no noises or creaks / squeaks and the handling has been transformed - speed humps now don't have to be approached with the fear the back end is going to fall off.

I've not heard a trace of a creak or squeak.
Before fully tightening the four trailing arm bolts through the bushes, did you first lower the wheels to the ground so the bushes were in the normal driving position?

I can only wonder if the people with the creaking did the opposite of whatever you did?

If I fit mine I'll do it your way :)
