:D yes £80 is a bargain i know, help being in the trade. the car acutally came into our dealership at £30 ! but with a stupid £50 admin fee it made it £80, still a bargain i think though.

im going to give the car a good service mext month and get it on the road.

How on earth did someone let that go for £30, perhaps I should start buying and selling cars even though I know nothing

Bargain, I got the SX of a family member for £600 @ 32K miles, only cost me a new exhaust last month after 4 years of ownership! Not including the usual filters tyres. Think my clutch cable is going too, now I've read it's common I'm gonna get it looked at! I'm looking at doing a few upgrades so will watch this thread and share any works done!

4 years and you haven't changed it? You are either lucky or just don't have my aggressive driving style lol

I think I'm fantastically lucky, however, I only do about 8K miles a year so.. I think it's age is starting to show more recently and I can see it costing me some ££ so that's why I'm thinking about upgrading a lot of parts..

Im sorry I must be very very old and have no idea what you just said lol

When a garage takes a part exchange what they offer as a part exchange and what they stand it in stock at will be entirely different.

Frinstance, garage offers £500 minimum trade in. They have welded £500 on top of the price of the car they are selling. If they stand the part exchange in at £500, then they pay VAT on the inflated price of the car they have sold, and if they then make a loss on the part exchange there is no VAT credit allowed.

Therefore, on invoice, the sold car will be marked down by any amount up to £500 to allow the part exchange to stand at the right value.

The difference to pay will not change, both sides of the equation will be reduced by the same amount.

Hence SIV =stand in value.
