hello. ive got a few camshafts around and just wondered if anyone knew the difference with them. i have got an 866 in the fiat at the mo, but the 1 in the head im rebuilding has 4x4 stamped into it. also got 2 with 176 stamped into them. any info would be great.

Is the 4x4 cam better than the 176? My old Cinq sporting had the 176. I couldn't find any old posts with info.

Was the 4x4 sometimes fitted to seicento mpi cars then. Maybe that's why mine is rubbish at higher rpm. I will check my cam!

My mpi had a 4x4 cam fitted it hits a wall at about about 5500rpm when you feel the power drop off the 866 from a punto 75 makes a difference even on a stock engine from mid to high range rpm

Might explain why mine hits a wall at 5k rpm. It's terrible compared to my previous spi cinqs. Anyone know what cam is fitted to the 1242 8v punto?

The 866 is a very good upgrade but the 5.5k wall is probably due to ignition timing and not the fueling. Fitting a Supersprint manifold with an 866 is a must.

I fitted an 866 in my Cinq a few months ago.

Compared to the standard cam, which felt like it had a bit of a hollow between 1000 and 4000, then a bit of peak, then flattening off above 6000, the 866 is smooth everywhere, but with more get up and go everywhere. That hollow and that peak have gone and it feels better. It's very nice. And a fair bit louder everywhere.

Idles better than before. But I've shimmed it better than it was. Spot on now with the inlet valves the same and the exhaust valves the same, where they were a bit all over the place before.

Mines a little lumpy on tick over but over the that's it runs great in think mine just down to the ecu needing to get used to the extra lift and duration of the new cam damn mpi micro ecus

I was lucky!

It was in a Punto 60 team. Looks like the tensioner bearing had failed as it was flapping about and the belt was off. Leading to it being scrapped... cost £22

Yes im trying to restrain myself from getting carried away with this Sei. Would love another 1242 but have other car priorities...

Hi guys I found what I believe is an 866 cam in a punto today !
What is making me question it is it says 998 as you look at it is that correct I looked at the pic above and it looks the same as mine so is it an 866 and what are these shims people keep mentioning what do I need to put it in my 1.1 spi Cinq ?
Your help and knowledge is greatly appreciated
