Hi guys,

Recently brought my cinq in for MOT (dutch one, probably kind of the same). The CO emissions were too high, so they replaced the MAP sensor (I've had some issues with the light coming on in the dash when it was idling). Apparently, it has been running a bit to rich -- Never had any audible idling issues though

All was well, but when I tried driving later the idle was appalling. Just up-and-down and when I revved it, it even stalled a bit later (see video link below). Now, I've never had any issues of this sort, and when I brought it back to the garage, they said they couldn't find any thing and it wasn't their fault. So, :bang:

Anywho, I've tried:
- Replacing the map sensor with the old one (does the same thing, which is quite weird as the garage stated they didn't change anything else)
- Revved the engine while having my finger on the hose at the and of the MAP, it does suck on it (not sure how hard it has to suck, but it does), so I think it's not a vacuum issue
- Pulled out the stationary stepping motor, looked completely clean, cleaned it better anyway
- Checked out the air intake valve, also looks completely clean
- Pulled of Lambda sensor, which does make it run worse (so the sensor does something, although that might just be a false reading)

I'm not an expert by any means but I love to tinkle and I'm not afraid to try anything. Does anybody have some advice? It has become a bit better since then, but it hasn't gone away completely.

Could be the temperature sensor for the ECU.
It is on the thermostat housing.

The gauge uses a different sensor, which is on the belt end of the head.
So the ECU could be seeing different readings, ie if it still thinks the engine is cold it will be running rich.

Also check the breather hoses, both the big one that feeds into the main intake hose and the tiny one that connects to the throttle-body under the butterfly.

I'm picking up the car from the garage on monday, I'll check the sensor then. Thanks!

Allright, so the car is back, they didn't find anything, and when it's warm outside (not when the engine is warm, it appeared to be running smoothly). However, when it became a bit colder things got weird.

I had a look at all of the vaccuum hoses, and I might be mistaken, but I think the MAP sensor was connected at the wrong place. It now is in the throttle body (http:// www. fiatforum.com/cinquecento-seicento-guides/146381-spi-throttle-body-where-pipes-go.html -- Number 10). Whereas it was at the place where the vacuum hose to the master break cilinder goes. I swapped those around and it appears to be fixed.

I'm not entirely sure about this fix though, can someone confirm?
