hi
had to change the core plug
while at it got the clutch changed
but now its all back together and it don't work

when the engine is off it goes in gear

but when engine running its almost if the clutch doesn't engage totally
so with clutch down and you push it in gear it starts to move

I put this clutch
Fiat Seicento 187 1.1 1998/01-2010/01 1108 ccm, 40 KW, 54 PS

any ideas? besides removing gearbox again

You mean it doesn't disengage totally? i.e it only goes into gear without graunching with the engine off and there is still drive when you have your foot fully down on the clutch?

Not engaging fully would mean it would slip and not transmit power properly with your foot off the clutch pedal.

Try adjusting the clutch cable first. Could just be set way too low!

Did you take the clutch fork out of the gearbox?

with the engine off it goes in gear

with the engine on it doesn't graunch but when I push the clutch down
and try to put it in gear the car start moving without graunching
like the clutch is not fully engaged

I tried adjusting the clutch cable
but same result

I'm not really fully understanding the issue, sorry!

So the gears are actually engaging ok with the engine running or do they not select?

Basically, as i'm reading it, if you select a gear with the engine off, your foot fully down on the clutch and start it up, there is some drive still going to the wheels making the car move?

That means the clutch is not releasing fully when you put the clutch pedal down?

How it behaves with the engine off tells us nothing really aside from the gearbox being ok.

Normally when you moved between gears with the engine running if the clutch was not disengaging properly, this would cause it to graunch and the gears would feel notchy

Have you removed the clutch fork from the gearbox whilst it was off? if so, it could be that the lever the cable goes into on top of the fork has been replaced one tooth out,

Aside from that and the cable, the only real issues i can think of would be release bearing related.

yes when I put in gear and push clutch and start it still moves

when engine is running you cannot get it in gear
if you try before it gets in gear the car starts moving but will not go in gear
just start moving

not have had the clutch fork removed
only changed the release bearing

Ok, i understand now.

When you fitted the clutch plate, what way round did you fit it?

The flattest side should be towards the engine and the lumpy side should be pointing towards the gearbox. (though i'd think the cover plate wouldn't bolt down flush, i'm only thinking out loud really!)

was the release bearing correctly located into the fork and fitted the correct way around? (circular spinning side against the clutch cover plate, squared off holder clips/slides into the fork)

Yes it would mate. Have you tried adjusting the clutch cable? It might be fully adjusted so there's no travel

Where is the clutch pedal inside the car relative to the brake pedal
