hi
i have a 2002 Seicento there is water leak between the gearbox and engine
as you can see its pissing out
but no clear spot where it is actually leaking?
almost seems to be coming from inside?

probably coming from the thermostat housing which is above the gearbox/engine joint. its just running down and dripping off the lowest point

Large core plug behind the flywheel perhaps? I have just changed its opposite number near the water pump so kind of expecting this to corrode as well... Have a good look at the thermostat and plastic hose connection behind that first though..you might be lucky

i take it the red arrow is pointing to the thermostat housing?
it doesnt seem to be leaking from there

but the white arrow it looks inside the gearbox its pissing out as you can see if you look carefull

here a bigger foto of the leak it comes from inside the gearbox
and start at the red arrow, and then go down

and the solution?
seems like a big problem?
this means the gearbox needs to come off i think? and then?
or any other solution?

then hammer new core plug in?

no temp solutions?

how big of a job is it? get gearbox flywheel off?
are there any guides available?

so whats teh size in mm of this core plug when ordering?

is it possible to get to him without removing the flywheel?

any special tools needed when reasembiling the flywheel?

I'm not sure what size it is, a search might have the answer.

I don't think you would be able to seat the bottom of the plug properly without removing the fly wheel. No special tools needed to remove/re-install the flywheel, just undo the six bolts and off it comes.

alos as i understand i will need a clutch alignment tool
do i need a special one?
or any universal will do?

you dont need a clutch alignment tool. i just did it by eye. i have a universal alignment tool and it was too big for the cinq clutch.

I don't use a proper alignment tool either, i just use the handle of my mini-ratchet with some electrical tape around it, makes it super easy to move the plate around and see if it's central by eye.

Done 4 or 5 with it, all perfect first time.

so when placing the clutch

if i understand right if its not centered i just cannot get the gearbox in
when the gearbox is on, the clutch is centered right?

and how i understand its not possible then when all back together the plate is not centered? it just wouldnt fit together correct when putting the gearbox back?

Pretty much.

If the gearbox goes fully into place without force (it will take a lot of wiggling, and possibly a few slight turns of the flywheel to get the splines to line up), then yes, the clutch plate is centered.

I like to put a tiny (and i mean TINY) smear of copper grease on the end of the input shaft of the gearbox/inside of the clutch splines so that when the shaft is going into the clutch plate, it isn't dry metal onto dry metal and should help slide it on.
