My cinquecento on a 98plate seems different to most centos I've come across.. Most in breakers yards..for example: my steering wheel has the larger type centre with the horn buttons on either side. It also has a different (Seicento?) Handbrake cable. Mine does not have the cable bolted to a bracket with the adjustment on the threaded rod built into the cable. But instead my cable just hooks over a U shaped part which is connected to the adjuster rod connected directly to the base of the handbrake mechanism housed inside the plastic cover. Also mine only has two instrument stalks. One has the indicators and headlamps the other the wipers. Mine also, when new, didn't come with a temperature gauge! That's probably why I cooked the engine a few years ago due to a faulty thermostat. I very quickly upgraded my basic dash to that of an SX model with temperature gauge and an on dash switch to turn the cooling fan on/off. So did Fiat start using Seicento parts on the last of the Cinquecento models? (As I worked for Austin Rover I know they did mix and match parts at the time of an 'upgrade' to their cars. Cheers all:) ..nick..

Things did change towards the end on the Cinq.
Your engine will have pure hydraulic rockers with no adjustment, where as mine (1994) originally had hydraulic+adjuster. It now has pure mechanical rockers (from an old Panda) with no hydraulic and is much better for it!

Yes it has the non adjustable rockers like you said. Why are the Panda ones netter? And if I wanted to convert what engine did you get them from please?:) mine are sometimes a little noisy on cold start. Plus I like manually adjustable things better than auto adjacent:)

The hydraulic tappets in the adjustable/hydraulic rockers are a bit rubbish. Having an adjuster on a hydraulic rocker is a bit of a give-away...!!
The later tappets in the pure hydraulic rockers are apparently better.
Mine were very noisy and a new set of tappets (which may not have worked properly anyway) was quite a lot. So I went the non-hydraulic route.
Mine came from a 903cc Panda. Some Uno also used the same engine.
The Panda rocker set needed a lot of cleaning, paying careful attention to all the oilways... the Panda clearly hadn't had an oil change in many many years...
Once adjusted it sounds much better. I had expected them to need frequent attention, but I haven't touched them since and that was 7-years ago!
If it was still used daily then they probably would need looking at, but even then once a year would be enough.

Yes i have a 98 cinq too (S reg)

You are correct, they started using some of the to be released seicento bits on these late models.

You may notice the cabin air intake under the windscreen only has the driver side instead of mirrored?

It makes for a bit of fun ordering parts!
