Right, just my luck as the fuel tank is leaking (yippee) - I purchased on from eBay for a good price. So today I have taken the task of sorting it out. 2 hours later the tank is off (2 broken bolts) here is my problem.

On the rotten 899cc tank there is a fuel sender unit on the top and a inlet pipe for the fuel return right - there is another 2 cylinders with their hole that go in the top of the tank with blue pipeing. I don't know what this piping is for??? does any one know?

THe other problem as it comes to the blue pipe work. The new tank as the hole on the top, but for the fuel sender and one 1 of the 2 cylinders?!?!?! - now if the cylinders both do the same job at the same time if any one knows what they are for I am looking to cut one and join it with the other with a T-Pipe. But will my car start and run if I did this - anyone out there done this to theirs?

HELP!!!

Mike

I think you should have three pipes. One for fuel supply that should go to the pump oulet. One for fuel return from the TB, and one from/to the charcoal filter.

There will also be a couple of wires, to the pump and to the sender.

I can't understand your problem from your description, as I can't think what the cylinders are you refer to, sorry.

Cheers

D

Thanks RallyC

Right, 4 Pipes (2 from the fuel Sender Unit) and 1 small one on the outside, and
one for the main fuel in. On the top of the tank you insert in the small hole a cydiner with a blue pipe connectected to it (don't know where it goes) I have 2 of these on my Sei but the new tank has only 2 holes as per the photo attached - one for fuel sender and 1 cylinder (what is this cylinder for?). Old tank had 3.

The Cylinder goes in and turns to lock

Hi,
I think the cylinder you mentioned is the "two way multi valve" that controls the in-tank air pressure...... :)

Thanks

Hi,
Is there anything under the circular cover in the middle of the tank....?

Thanks

does the 899cc fall under the fuel tank recall?????

or was that just the 1108cc???

Right - if its for the air pressure, I better off making a new hole to the same size and add this other unit in and seal it with approxy glue or something. The middle cover is to protect the insides - it comes off :)

My car is not covered under the recall as it falls outside the chassis numbers - FIAT will not cover it at all

Hi Rally

Same here - looking at the picture above, you have the large central hole for the sender - I have that. Next to it on the left is the smaller hole, I have two of these, one on the left and one on the right of the sender unit (Both holes have a cylinder in it and a blue pipe coming out) the new tank (the photo) only has one.

Sod the last post by me :) - I refitted the old tank, add 5lit and went for a drive to see if its okay.. Pump is making a noise now when I put the pedal to the metal (I think to rebuild pressure in the fuel lines)

So - Wrong tank I think....

Anyone got a 899cc new tank for sale?

The two way multi-valve is fitted to the filler neck, just around where you stick the fuel nozzle when filling up. It's fitted behind the splash-guards in the wheel arch and allows air in if the tank is under vacuum or vapour out to atmosphere if the pressure is too high.

The thing that locks in the top is a trap that allows fuel vapour but not liquid out to the charcoal can.

You could do, as long as you're certain that's what they both do.

edit - looking at the ePER disc, it looks like that's right, there's 2 vapour take-offs. Are they connected together before they go to the front of the car?
