Hi guys

I have a 98 Cinquecento sporting and have the following problem...

Car had been sat a while due to it needing a new fuel pump. Started it to get it to the garage and it ran, albeit lumpy, for around 10 mins on idle then suddenly cut out and wouldn't restart. I left it for 10 mins and it started very briefly and cut out. I got it towed to the garage where I had a new tank, filter and pump installed and it ran beautifully for the 7 minute drive home.

This morning I went to drive to work, got 10 mins down the road and the car died. No coughing, splattering, warning, dash lights, just cut out, same as before. It wouldn't restart again. Now I think that when I go back to it this evening it will more than likely start and run til it gets hot again.

I know it's probably a sensor or something breaking down when it gets hot but what is it likely to be? I have read a few but nothing seems to quite match my problem.

Any advice much appreciated!!! :)

Assuming it cranks on the starter, pop the air filter off, crank it a bit and see if you can smell fuel. If you can it will be somewhere in the ignition system, otherwise it's somewhere in the fuel system.

Okay so I went to get it back earlier and it still won't start.

Think I may check the pump wiring and fuse as I can hear the relay click but I can't hear the new pump whir at all! Can't think of what else may just stop the car starting and cut it out just like that :(

Thanks for your replies :)
