Hi all!

I am a complete car novice so bear with my ramblings of text :)

I have a W reg seicento which has a non working speedo/mileometer.

Ive been told to get the electronic speed sensor which is all well and dandy. I have checked the eper and found the part numbers

46523738 or 46758026,

but heres my problem! I can't find any in the UK to purchase quickly and easily. I have found one on ebay [but its in france and will take ages to get here. Does anyone know where i can find a UK stocked part?

Or if there is another version that is compatible?

Many thanks
Rachel

Have you tried local motor factors, they should be able to cross reference original numbers with patented ones or be able to use your registration for the correct one.

Yes, local to me (Exeter in Devon) don't have any. Have requested on breakers yard for the scrappys on there to have a look but it's proving difficult when you get no reply.

It's like finding a needle in a haystack on the Internet to find a part.

I "think" i have one lurking in the parts pile in my garage, When i got a second hand gearbox for my cinq, it was off a later seicento and had that wired sensor still on it, which of course i had to take off and replace for the mechanical worm for the cinq's cable setup.

I'll have a rake around and see if i can spot it.

Many thanks!

I'll keep hunting just in case.

The fuses have been checked supposedly and the gearbox oil level too. So fingers crossed this will resolve the issue! I've spent hours on this forum looking at methods to fix.

Found the part! Its been delivered today, friend will fit tomorrow and hopefully is a fix.

I just want to get out and drive as this is my learner - two years driving car as it has 78k on the clock and is a cheap motor to insure for me!

Thanks for the advice and info :)

Upon taking out the old speedo my friend found that the pin inside had snapped in the speedo output thing on the gearbox, and because the last owner had just taped on the speedo sensor it had shaved part of the casing off.

Is the bit thats stuck inside the speedo output easy to get off? I'm a computer techy and cars aren't my thing so when he says what needs to be done it goes over my head.

If the drive end is metal you could probably fish it out with a magnet (I suspect it'll be a steel part). If it's plastic it'll probably be a case of obliterating it with a drill (which means gearbox out).

Thanks for the advice!

Today hes done some more work on the car and found that its got a broken differential gear. (or something?!)

Found the part number 7637702 but again no stock in the UK, and postage is almost as much as the part, to be fair when i bought the car the guy did say it was missing this part or it was broken.
