erm... HELP ASAP PLEASE!

I got a new 'horn' :D but I'm not certain about fitting it...

There's a control box with four wires (2 pairs) one red and black, one white and black. And the speaker thingy with one white and one black wire.
Incase that doesnt make sense i'll add a picture...

I'm guessing the black and white wires on the box/speaker join up? And then the red and black wires from the box connect to the battery. Was thinking of joining at fag lighter? red positive, black negative?(which things on the back of the lighter do this correspond with, haven't done this before  )

PLEASE help me :(

Cheers

Yeah - you are right - black and white join together and the red/black go to 12v supply. Fag lighter is probably the best or find the ACC wire off the ignition switch and connect the red to it and the black to any earth connection.

Methinks its a fairly 'special' horn and not the normal 'beep-beep' type?

'special' indeed, 5 sirens, 5 animal noises and a mic

Should be a laugh...

so the blacks earth not negative?

oh

Will let you know tomorrow, when i hopefully fit it in a free period at sixth form :D

HELP! i wanna fit it now, at least to test it out...

How do i remove the lighter? Also there's so many wires! which do i join to?

Any help would be great, wanna do it before dark!

ok, what are you wanting to do? Do you want it wired in to the horn are you just after getting power to it?

Is it going to stay in the car? If not, use something like this:

http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=1054&doy=6m10

and then you can unplug it.

If you want it properly wired in, unclip the wiring from the back of the cig socket. I can't remeber how the clip works, prolly just squeeze it and pull. The red and green wire is 12v, and the black wire is 0v / ground.

To connect it to the wires, carefully peal back some of the insulaton on the red/green wire with a sharp knife. do not cut the metal core. strip the insulation off the end of the wire you wish to connect to it, wrap it round a few times then solder it. Insulate the connection with some electrical tape.

remeber though, its live all the time - its not switched with the ignition..unless you have a sei so

Remove the fuse before you do all this. Its a 7.5A fuse, second row down, second from the left in the main fuse box under the steering wheel.

EDIT: If you want it wired into the horn, look for a purple wire coming out the fuse box.. should go all the to the horn, take the postive feed from that

nice, cheers. There's two black wires? Which of these do i wire to?

EDIT: I touched the wires to the other wires :)o) and it worked fine :D but when i joined them the radio and clock aren't working  all the lights etc. are... AND the 'horn' isn't :( Whats wrong with it

Ok, I've taken out the new horn...
Just wanna get everything working again and then I'll have second attemt
Also noticed the hazard lights aren't working, which fuse would it be thats gone?

so which fuse is it that'll need replacing?
Am working tonight so will pick one up :)

ah... i got it sorted and it works!! hehe, cheers arc :D it was just the fuse...

Just need to find somewhere to mount the speaker bit and run the wiring to it, any ideas where to mount it and how to get wiring there?

mount it under the bonnet, near the ECU. run the wires along the firewall to the drivers side, through the gap at the edge and into the hole behind the battery through into the dash where the speedo cable runs through. (y)
