Light at the end of the tunnel at last. Windscreen is back in at bonnet is on.
I took the screen out to do two little bubbling patches. Next thing holes.
Still looks better now.

Right, exhaust refitted, bottom of the wing is now in clearcoat.

Thanks to a quick read of rallycinq's post, I now have only one wiper. However I have developed a squeak, or a squeal from the assembly somewhere, d'oh.

I have ordered two m8 rose joints, and I am going to remake the linkage from motor to wiper spindle. The plastic ball joints are looking a bit sorry for themselves after 20 welsh winters.

It lives.
Well sort of, it runs under its own power. Doesn't stop very well yet. I have a problem with my nipples.
Wow, forgot how good it is to drive her again.

Er, sort of got a bit bored. So I hydro graphic printed my can cover. Oops.

Don't know how it will perform on the car, as the engine bay is a bit of a hostile environment.
Worth a go.

I'll get some better pictures, with her indoors camera when the clear coat has cured overnight. That's if it doesn't bloom, because of course it has started raining again, and she won't let me keep it in the house because it stinks.

Maybe CENTOpainter has got some input?

It is all done in 2k, but I think 90+ degrees Celsius is pushing it a bit on an engine.

Do you recon baking it would help?

Duncan have a look at hydro monkeys web site.

It is an absolute bugger of a job, everything has to be spot on or it goes horribly wrong.

Quite difficult if you are in a garden shed and a single garage in wales.

Paint what you want to dip with 2k paint aka 2 PAC. Flat it down until it is a matt finish. Fill a suitable container with clean water, mask the edges of the film. Spray with activator, and dip it.

There is obviously more to it than that, but that is essentialy it. You can do wheels or entire panels with it. The sky is the limit really.

Also check out swirling on YouTube, that's pretty cool too, I fancy having a go at that.

As promised, a bit better photo of my cam cover.

It survived overnight, and is on the car. I have run her up to temp with no issues so far.

So fingers crossed.

No reason the old girl can't go for an mot next week.

Know what you mean RAF. Should be ok as long as you use 2k self etch primer.

Bit of high build and decent quality paint. Main thing is to make sure the surface is totally flat as in mat finish.

I had problems sealing the cam cover, almost as if the surface was porus. I had to wire brush it with thinners first.

You can either mask the back off like I did, or clean it to the n'th degree. Because once dipped you can't touch the surface, just rinse and clear coat. So any oil will cause fish eyes.

Car now compounded, t cut and polished, I got bored again. So I decided to do something silly with the wiper arms. I can't post any pics because I haven't finished yet and at the moment it looks ****e. Just me being childish.

Just need to Hoover the inside out, and bite the bullet. Swap the insurance off the alfa and mot it. Won't be for a bit, because the alfa has developed a knock, it needs two new bottom arms before I can sell it. I wouldn't be happy to sell it to someone if I knew it had a problem. Can't bloody wait to get the old girl on the road again, it's been 10 months now and apart from the odd spin on the old 400 superdream, I'm not getting much enjoyment from driving.

Don't get me wrong the alfa is superb as a car, but it's not a cinq, if you know what I mean.

New class d mono block amp sounds nice, when on full blast you can see the side widows move, and the roof vibrate. The best thing is with my lack of any battery as such there is no need for a power cap and no pulsing from the headlights etc.

Quick update, I was going to book her in for an mot today. Good job I didn't.

I decided to swap the rear bulbs from led to standard, because insurance companies are evil in my experience. Wish I bloody hadn't. All lights were working as led's. Now I have only one rear side light, no fog light and no indicators.

Indicators stopped working because I blew the electronic flasher unit up, (says max 30w on it, oops). But the only thing I can think of to stop the rest working would be the earth points, the additional power required to light the standard bulbs is overwhelming a poor earth connection.

Of course none of my old man's multimeters have a battery in, and the bulb has gone on his test light.

This is the part of any build I hate, niggling little faults that take ages of fiddling to rectify.

Oh, and I lost all gears, because one of those stupid c clips decided to jump off the linkage as I was going down the road.

F'ing cars.

We have all felt the pain. Hang in there.

Right, lights are sorted.

With the LEDs in, all lights were fine, put standard bulbs in and only one side light, no fog, no brake light.

Checked with a multi meter, only 5v showing on the side light. Right number plate light lit up but dimly, with the stop tail bulb out. Put it in and number plate light goes out.

Much head scratching and Italian insulting later. Bingo, fuse had gone on one side. LEDs were working because it was back feeding through the number plate light and they require so little wattage to light up, it was all good. Probably been like that for years.

Fiat forum stickers are on. Just need screen wash in it and plonk the flasher unit in and happy days. Will phone and book it in with mot chap tomorrow.

Brooklands here we come. Owain Glyndwr only got as far as Shropshire, let's hope I do better than that. ;)

Another quick one, if I am in reverse the reverse light is on, that's normal. If I touch the brakes, the reverse light goes out, release the brake and back on she comes. It's almost like it's meant to do it.

Does anyone else have that, because I've not noticed it before. Doesn't bother me, as it all works, just odd.
