Someone went to a lot of trouble to hide this and me buying at dusk meant I didn't spot it. It was very carefully filled and sprayed, but started to discolour these last few weeks. I bought the car a few months ago and apart from a small patch of rust under the screen, it seems solid elsewhere. It's a 1996 with 66,000 km (about 42,000 miles) on the clock.

A few prods with a screwdriver made my heart drop:(. Can it be plated (so close to rear seat belt mount) or is it terminal?

can be repaired mate not sure on the regs in netherland but in the uk that i would repair.

I had the arch repaired and specifically asked for no finishing as I wanted to be sure the rust was treated. Got it back like this...

Smuthered in kit I didn't trust the repair and got to work with a screwdriver and sure enough...

Crap welding and not a complete repair either. Won't be going back to this guy.

Cleaned it up, fiberglassed the last hole and smoothed and painted it.

If you own a cinq, I would go out and buy a welder. They don't go for long without needing a plate or two.

That first repair was shocking, I would have gone back and swore at him until he did it properly.

You did a nice job of cleaning it up, looks good now.
I don't know if they sell it in the Netherlands, but waxoyl is a godsend with centos. Saves the rust goblins for a bit longer.
