Hi all,

A few years back I brought a '99 Seicento Sporting and I loved it to bits. Unfortunately it quickly became apparent that the owner before me obviously didn't love it in quite the same way. The engine was practically toast at only 70,000 miles. So I got rid of it...

A year or so later I brought myself a lovely '03 Punto Active Sport to fill the yearning spot in my heart for another Italian car.. I've had my Punto for almost a year now and it's awesome, but I still can't help myself wanting a little Seicento again!

So I'm looking for a 2002/2003 Seicento in any colour pretty much but it's gotta be a decent one because I don't want to feel like I'm taking a step down from my Punto.

I was just wondering whether any of you Seicento gurus out there can help me with some stuff I've been pondering... I'd prefer a 1.1 MPi engine if I could, but if there was a mint 0.9l with low mileage I would be tempted. My question is how good are the 0.9 engines? I do a lot of motorway driving (about 160 miles motorway journeys a week) and I was wondering how well they cope with motorways at 70mph? I know their top speed is only 87mph! Also do they feel sluggish and slow?

Any wise words or advice would be gratefully recieved,
Thanks,

Rhys

They go well over 87mph.
I did a day trip from London to Oberhausen in Germany and back to London to collect a 911 gearbox.
It was about 625miles, some of it on unrestricted Autobahn and it goes off of the end of the speedo (and no it wasn't downhill).

i know how you feel about getting rid of your Seicento. i had a 2001 MPI which i loved to bits but sold it because it was getting a bit cramped to be my daily driver hence the reason i got my punto and i feel excatly the same
i find the punto more comfortable and better on fuel, whereas the sei felt more fun to drive and had better handling. although id still stay stick with what youve got for now
btw this was mine

I've decided, with a little helpful friendly advice from my family, that I'm gunna keep my Punto. For the amount of driving I do, especially on motorways, the Punto is a better all-round car. Its comfortable, quiet and generally handles the motorways like a dream. So, overall I think my Punto is perfect for what I want right; practicality, safety and reliability. One compromise I have made is that I've brought my Punto some Alfa 147 leather seats, just to add to that comfort factor ;)

Thanks everyone for all your advice,

Rhys

Just throwing my ridiculous opinion out there again, Driving the 1.4 cinq is boring on city drives, motorways great love it. but city driving I could thrash the 899 up to the speed limit and I felt like I was going quick, with the 1.4 I just change gear. Never driven a 1.1 though.
