That looks like a nasty hole in the rear suspension mount. Instant MOT fail IIRC......

I suggest you pay to have welded up.....or if you have no regard for personal safety/other road users, bodge it and hope for the best.

How to bodge it you ask? well if you look in the classifieds of this very forum, some chappie is selling a set of rear arch liners. Combine with polyfilla & hammerite, and you might just sneak it past the MOT inspector.

But this doesn't fix the obvious structural integrity problem, and I sincerely suggest you get it fixed properly.

the one on the donor car as far as i can tell looks good not the best but has no rust on it, is it a easy job to do or is it going to be a pain? iv got a friend whos told me to filler it make it look nice and he will help me with putting a mot on it as i need to move it to my garage as its abit away from my house i think my main issue is going to be the rusted nuts

I wouldn't even bother bodging that mate. Should anything happen you get the garage into trouble aswell

If you've looked at the pic from the link I gave, you'll see how many bolts hold it on. Find them and soak them in penetrating oil, daily for a week. PlusGas is still good stuff for that.

If you are going to swap the whole thing complete, it'll be a bit heavy, but you'll probably only have to disconnect the brake hoses and cables. While you're underneath you'll see what else might need to be removed, probably the exhaust.

If the donor and recipient are not the same spec, e.g. one's a normal car, the other a Sporting, you'll need to swap springs over. Not sure is brakes are the same.

Don't consider covering it up. The reason it is an MOT failure is because it is safety related. You should always consider the MOT to be a good thing, not bad. A skilled technician will inspect your car and effectively tell you if it is safe to use. If it fails, it has been unsafe or illegal for a while. Don't blame the messenger. I'm always happy to find an MOT tester that is strict, rather than one willing to let things go.

the hardest part is the rear brake line. The bolts that hold the rear beam up will come off easily, as the bolts goes into the body, they are not exposed.

I would consider buying a beam and rear arms from the breaker as a whole then refurb the arm with fresh bushes, as is easy when everything is out in front of you.
