Simples- go to the 'Guides' section & look it up.
I'd never done a OHC engine before i did the Cinq 1.1 SPI Sporting. Just used the guide & i did it outside during the 2010 Christmas holiday so i would have a car when i returned to work. Fluffing cold & it took more than a few hours but that was mostly due to illness, frostbite, & knocking icicles off my extremities! -but i still did it.

It's really no big deal. You need a set of 3/8 sockets and a few spanners. Only special tool you need is a torque wrench. (Hire Shop?) I've done much worse (gearbox, clutch and driveshaft change) out in the street.

You can get a Silverline torque wrench for £20! Head gaskets can't get much easier than the sohc fire IMO. Good place to start if anybody has not done one before and excellent mojo booster!

Just make sure the crank pulley goes on in the right position with the locating pin and hole.

And if it's not been done change the water pump and cam belt too.

Is it worth it though my poor sei is covered in dents from its previous owner. Wouldnt i just be better off cutting my losses and save for a cleaner one and send this one to a retirement yard

Generally better the car you know!

You'd be shocked how cheap the parts are, and an MOTed dented runner is worth a lot more to the next person than the scrap price!

It has 12 month mot and 12 month tax on it at the moment but its obvious that the head gasket has gone even to a non car guy so i dont know how it passed tbh
